Coventry 1-1 Brentford

Brentford lost ground in the League One automatic promotion race, being held at financially-challenged Coventry City.

The Sky Blues were ahead when captain Carl Baker slotted home a penalty a minute before the break after Harlee Dean had pushed Richard Wood.

But the Bees levelled a minute after the restart, Clayton Donaldson crossing for Harry Forrester to find the corner.

Donaldson then missed a great chance to snatch the points in the final minute, slicing wide from close range.

Brentford are now five points behind second-placed Bournemouth, although they have two games in hand.

Coventry, who gave a debut to 17-year-old Ryan Haynes at left-back, remain 14th in League One.

With three games left, they are 14 points off the pace, following their 10-point deduction for going into administration.

But the Sky Blues' decision to appeal could yet reignite those play-off hopes.

Sky Blues manager Steven Pressley told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire:

"It was probably a fair result. We've gone four on the bounce without losing which is pleasing in the respect that our home form was a concern for many people, but we do want to win our home games.

"These players have had a difficult couple of weeks with the deduction of 10 points when we had momentum and getting very close to the play-offs.

"It's not easy when that's taken away from you and I think their response has been terrific.

"We keep talking positively with the group about achieving things this season but, when they look at the league table and 10 points taken away, it's not easy to convince them of that."

Brentford manager Uwe Rosler told BBC London 94.9:

"I am very happy. It was another very good away game and I am happy to get a point as they are a good footballing side.

"We controlled the second half, and after the equaliser we had some massive chances and we have managed to stop the rot.

"The winter has been hard and so the pitches will be hard to play on. They are in a bad way all over the country and it's difficult for both sides.

"We have a massive game against Crewe coming up and we can still go up automatically."
