Torquay United manager Alan Knill wants constant commitment

Torquay United boss Alan Knill wants his players to show the same level of commitment they did in the defeat by Gillingham for the rest of the season.

The Gulls are only above the League Two relegation zone on goal difference.

"I thought we were better than last week, there was more effort and I'll take that as we're not playing Gillingham every week," said Knill.

"We have to be committed for the next three games and if we are I think we'll comfortably stay up."

The 1-0 defeat by Gillingham, who clinched promotion as a result, extended Torquay's losing run to three matches.

However, Knill is hopeful they can bounce back by winning the next three.

"You have to keep working hard and hope the luck will change, we applied ourselves well, but it was always going to be a tough game.

"In the next three games, it really wouldn't surprise me if we picked up nine points," he said.

"The crowd [against Barnet] on Saturday need to be behind us, it enthuses the players, we don't want it to be quiet."
