Brentford were held by Hartlepool and must beat Doncaster next week to secure promotion from League One.

Already relegated Pools took the lead when Luke James crossed for Jack Baldwin, whose shot was only half-cleared to James who drilled in.

Brentford equalised when Marcello Trotta turned home from 12 yards after the defence had failed to clear.

The only chance of a quiet second-half fell to Bees striker Tom Adeyemi but his shot was blocked from close range.
