Glenavon beat Donegal Celtic 3-1 at Mourneview Park in the last Irish Premiership game of the season

Two goals from Matthew Rooney helped Glenavon to victory at Mourneview Park.

Andy McGrory had first-half chances for the Lurgan Blues, with Kevin Hughes and Conor Downey going close for DC.

Grant Gardiner gave Glenavon the lead on 38 minutes thanks to a speculative shot from outside the box which took a deflection before finding the net.

Rooney tapped in from eight yards on 48, Paul McVeigh scored a penalty after 65, but Rooney grabbed his second with a neat finish in the 87th minute.

Glenavon end ninth in the Premiership table, while DC face a promotion-relegation play-off against either Institute or Warrenpoint Town after finishing 11th.
