Carlisle United: Peter Murphy among seven released

Carlisle have released long-serving defender Peter Murphy, who has made over 400 appearances for the club.

Also leaving Brunton Park are Adam Collin, Frank Simek, JP McGovern, Rory Loy, Mathieu Manset and Andy Welsh.

The Cumbrians have offered a new two-year deal to winger Matty Robson and a one-year contract extension to top-scorer Lee Miller.

Josh Todd, Paul Thirlwell and Danny Livesey have also been offered new one-year deals.

Supporters' player of the year Robson, 28, joined the club in 2009 and has made over 175 appearances both at left-back and in a wide left role.

Miller has scored 24 goals in his 60 appearances since joining the club in August 2011, including nine from 23 appearances this season.

Club captain Thirlwell, 34, has played over 200 games for the club, while midfielder Todd, 18, came through the youth ranks to make his debut in the 3-0 home victory over Hartlepool on Boxing Day.

Defender Livesey, 28, has made over 300 appearances for United.
