Bolton: Adam Bogdan desperate to make most of play-off chance

Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan says Bolton will go into Saturday's final game of the season against Blackpool thankful for a realistic chance of a play-off spot.

A Bolton victory will almost certainly guarantee a place in the top six.

Wanderers, who were relegated from the Premier League last May, were 20th in the Championship in February.

"It looks like it's in our hands, which is always a good thing. We're at home, we have to win," Hungary international Bogdan told BBC Radio Manchester.

"With where we were in the league in the middle of the season, I think everybody would have taken this. Obviously we would have wanted it to be safe by now, but it hasn't happened and now we have to do the job on the last day."

Bolton, who have won 10 of their last 16 league matches, currently occupy the final play-off position and are level on points with Nottingham Forest in seventh.

If Dougie Freedman's side extend their winning run at the Reebok Stadium to nine matches, Forest would need to beat Leicester by a margin of at least five goals to overhaul Wanderers.

And Bolton will also definitely seal a place in the top six if they are victorious and Freedman's former club, fifth-placed Crystal Palace, lose at home to struggling Peterborough.

Anything less than a victory will leave Bolton relying on results elsewhere.

Freedman said: "If anyone had said to me when I first got the job [in October] that our fate would be in our own hands and we had to win our last game to get into the play-offs, we'd have taken that.

"If you'd have said it to me two weeks ago, I'd have taken it. To get to where we are is good for us and we've got to make sure we finish off a good three months.

"We're going to look forward to it. It's a home game and we've won our last eight home games so we'll be trying to extend that. If we do that, we'll be in the play-offs."

Wanderers will be without centre-back Craig Dawson, who has completed his loan spell and returned to Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

"We've got good options there," Freedman added. "Any other position and we would have been struggling, but with David Wheater, Tim Ream and Matt Mills there - they're three experienced players and I've got no problem with that at all."
