Michu: Michael Laudrup says forward's season is probably over

Swansea top scorer Michu will probably miss the last fortnight of the season after tweaking a hamstring as the Swans earned a point against Manchester City.

The Spanish forward limped off late in the 0-0 draw at the Liberty Stadium.

And manager Michael Laudrup expects it will be the last the Swans fans will see of the player before the summer.

"It probably will be his last game he plays this season because there's only two weeks [left] and I don't think he'll recover in two weeks," he said.

Michu's arrival for £2m in the close season has turned out to be one of the most important transfers in the history of Swansea City.

His 21 goals in all competitions have been vital to the Swans' success in a season in which they have won the Capital One Cup.

Laudrup believes one more win in their three remaining games could secure a top-10 finish in the top flight for only the second time in Swansea's history.

And with nearest rivals West Ham being held at home and Fulham losing to Reading, Saturday's draw means Swansea stay in ninth place in spite of not winning a Premier League game for two months.

"We got a point against the champions from last season, and it was a very good point," said Laudrup.

"We were ninth two months ago, and we're still ninth even we haven't won for quite some time.

"But that means we've done extremely well until the beginning of March and now we want to finish well.

"I think now that [with] just one win in the last three games, we could finish in the top 10 and that would be absolutely fantastic."

Laudrup admitted the low-key encounter against last season's champions had suffered from a "lack of something".

He also claimed the Swans should have had a penalty in the first half when Michu was felled by Matija Nastasic.
