Gosport Borough target Conference promotion

Gosport Borough boss Alex Pike says his side can win Conference South promotion next season after they went up from the Southern League Premier Division.

Gosport defeated Hemel Hempstead Town on penalties in the play-off final.

It is Pike's third promotion since joining the club in the Wessex League and his second successive promotion after last year's play-off success.

When asked if his side could hold their own next season, Pike told BBC Radio Solent: "I think we can win it."

Pike, whose side were pegged back to 2-2 after taking a two goal lead, added: "I'm not going to enter any competition unless I think we can win it.

"People forget this is my fourth season, we've had three promotions and I've done it on a shoe-string budget."
