Darrell Clarke: Salisbury boss says pressure is on Dover

Salisbury manager Darrell Clarke has insisted the pressure is on Dover going into Sunday's Blue Square Bet South play-off final.

Clarke's side finished second in the final league standings, six points above Dover in third.

"For the last four of five years they've been trying to get into the top tier of non-league," the 35-year-old told BBC Wiltshire.

"A club of Dover's size, they'll be feeling the pressure."

He continued: "If anything, they're under more pressure than ourselves because we were looking to build slowly after the demotion.

"We've got there a lot quicker than people would have thought."

Salisbury have been absent from the Conference Premier since 2010, when they suffered a double demotion following financial difficulties.

Former Whites midfielder Clarke has guided them back up the non-league pyramid and, following their 2-1 aggregate win over Chelmsford in the play-off semi-finals, they are now one game away from returning to the top tier.

"I played in the team that would have finished sixth in the Blue Square Premier had we not had a 10-point deduction," said Clarke.

"To be sat here in a situation where we are one game off getting back there is a bit of a dream.

"Come Sunday, I hope we can add to that fairytale."
