PSG on brink of title as Barcelona await coronation

Paris St-Germain's expensively assembled array of stars can seal the club's first title since 1994 with victory over third-placed Lyon in a 20:00 BST kick-off on Sunday.

Marseille kept up their chase of PSG with a 2-1 win over Toulouse on Saturday, but are four points behind the leaders having played a game more.

While PSG remain overwhelming favourites for the title, they are without influential centre-back Thiago Silva for their match after the Brazilian was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Valenciennes last weekend.

Sporting director Leonardo has been provisionally suspended for allegedly barging into referee Alexandre Castro in the aftermath of that result, while midfielder Marco Verratti and goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu are also banned.

At the bottom of the table, Evian can escape the relegation zone at Nancy's expense with a draw at home to Nice (16:00 BST).

Spain

After Real Madrid's failure to beat Espanyol on Saturday, Barcelona travel in the opposite direction for Sunday evening's (18:00 BST) match against Atletico Madrid with their fourth title in five years already secured.

Real had to win to keep alive their slim hopes of overhauling their great rivals, but with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Xabi Alonso starting the evening on the bench, Jose Mourinho's side could only manage a 1-1 draw.

The title marks a personal success for Tito Vilanova who was promoted from assistant manager in the wake of Pep Guardiola's departure last summer and has had treatment for cancer this season.

Elsewhere, Valencia can guarantee themselves at least Europa League football next season if they beat Rayo Vallecano in the 11:00 BST kick-off and Betis then fail to follow suit against Celta Vigo at 16:00 BST.

Italy

With Juventus already champions and Napoli ensuring they will finish second with a 3-0 win over Bologna on Wednesday, the spotlight is on AC Milan and their bid to claim the third and final Champions League qualifying spot that may save coach Massimiliano Allegri's job.

The Rossoneri can book their place among Europe's elite with victory against Roma on Sunday at 19:45 BST. It is an outcome that looked unlikely after they took only seven points in their first eight league games.

Key to their hopes may be the form of former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, who has scored 11 goals in 11 games since arriving at the San Siro. However if Fiorentina lose at home to Palermo earlier in the day, third is Milan's regardless.

Elsewhere

It might be worth keeping an eye on the Norwegian Tippeligaen where former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Molde, after winning the title last season, are bottom with just five points from eight games. They play the team directly above them, Sandnes Ulf, at 17:00 BST on Sunday.

At the same time, but at the opposite end of the table, leaders Stromsgodset take on second-placed SK Brann.
