Hearts's manager Gary Locke critical of derby display

Manager Gary Locke was hugely disappointed as Hearts slumped to defeat against local rivals Hibernian.

A last-minute strike from teenage striker Ross Caldwell earned the visitors a 2-1 victory at Tynecastle.

"The boys have done great for the last four or five weeks but we didn't turn up today," Locke told BBC Scotland.

"In derby games you've got to win your individual battles and today too many of our players didn't manage that and that's the reason we lost."

Hearts were fortunate to be in front at half time, with Darren Barr profiting from a goalkeeping error to score at a corner kick.

The home side improved slightly after the interval but Hibs replied through a wonderful Leigh Griffiths free kick and Caldwell's cool finish.

"We just didn't play well enough," added Locke.

"Griffiths has done that all season - he's very dangerous and you've got to make sure you don't give away stupid free kicks near the penalty box.

"And the second goal was from our throw-in; we've given it away cheaply then the lad sticks it in."

Jamie Walker was shown a yellow card for simulation late in the game as he cut across the bows of Jordon Henderson.

And Locke had no complaints about the decision from referee Steven McLean.

"He was running at pace and he thinks he's going to get tackled," he explained.

"He went down and the referee is probably right to book him for diving."
