Hibernian: Pat Fenlon still in the dark over Leigh Griffiths

Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon says he is still unsure where Leigh Griffiths' future lies beyond the summer.

The on-loan Wolves striker netted his 100th career goal in a 2-1 Edinburgh derby win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

"I think until Wolves get a manager it probably won't be resolved," Fenlon told BBC Radio Scotland.

"If he stays - brilliant. If he goes, then we need to find someone to replace him which will be very, very difficult."

And Fenlon added: "He's matured as a footballer and as a person.

"We know he can finish, we know he can score fabulous goals and tap-ins. But as a centre-forward you've got to be able to play the game; link the play, bring others into the game and hold the ball up.

"He's improving in that all the time and that's a maturity as well."

Hibs were trailing at half-time after Darren Barr followed up Michael Ngoo's blocked header from a corner to poke the ball home for Hearts.

Griffiths levelled within minutes of the restart with a fine left-footed free-kick from long-range.

And 19-year-old forward Ross Caldwell curled a lovely goal into the top corner in the 90th minute to move Hibs ninth in the Scottish Premier League.

"It's probably the best derby there's been [this season]," Fenlon said.

"There was a lot of football played in it and I thought we were very, very good today.

"I said to them at half-time to go and win the game, not to go out and just try a get a point, and we did that.

"Young Alex [Harris] was different class. Ross [Caldwell] scored a goal to finish and he has a great record here at under-age level. Jordon [Forster] was different class at centre-half because he's come up against two big lumps today and he's dealt with them really well."

The result was Hibs' first win at Tynecastle since 2009 and Fenlon expressed his pleasure at being able to deliver a victory for the Leith side's fans.

"They've taken a lot of flack for a long time particularly after the cup final last year," he said.

"We haven't won here for a while. It's the first time in 11 or 12 years we've gone unbeaten against Hearts [in a season], so they're entitled to enjoy it.

"We've had our nose rubbed in it a bit over the last few years so it's payback for them."
