Norwich City FA Youth Cup: 'Night of our lives'

Norwich City Under-18s captain Cameron McGeehan has said his side's FA Youth Cup final victory over Chelsea will prove to be a career-defining moment.

The Canaries won 3-2 at Stamford Bridge to prevail 4-2 on aggregate, with McGeehan scoring in both fixtures.

"This is definitely the best night of our lives," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We've been working hard since we were nine and now we've accomplished something that we can use as a springboard for future success."

Norwich last won the FA Youth Cup 30 years ago when a side including Jeremy Goss, who would go on to score one of the club's most famous goals in a Uefa Cup victory over Bayern Munich, overcame Everton.

Under-18s boss Neil Adams guided his current crop of youngsters through rounds against QPR, Millwall, Birmingham, Everton and Nottingham Forest, before beating Chelsea's latest class of prospects.

Midfielder McGeehan was himself part of the Blues set-up until he was released two years ago and showed his former club his potential by netting in both legs of the final.

"It's the sweetest moment of my life. I've been dreaming about it since I left Chelsea," the 18-year-old said.

"It was an unbelievable feeling I can't put into words."

Joshua Murphy, 18, who scored Norwich's third on the night, led a counter-attacking display for the Canaries along with twin brother Jacob on the opposite wing.

"This is once in a lifetime," he said. "There is only one Youth Cup. This is our second year and we've won it.

"We just made history for Norwich City - it's amazing."
