Nicky Clark: Rangers agree deal to sign Queen of the South striker

Rangers have agreed a three-year deal with striker Nicky Clark, who is leaving Queen of the South.

The 21-year-old has scored 40 goals in 45 appearances for the Division Two champions this season.

Clark's father, Sandy, now assistant boss at QoS, played for the Ibrox club in the 1980s.

Rangers said on their website that joining the club would "no doubt be an emotional and proud moment for the player and his family".

Clark was released by Rangers as a schoolboy before joining the youth set-up at Aberdeen.

But following a loan spell at Peterhead, he signed permanently for the Division Three outfit, before exiting for Dumfries in 2011 after two years at Balmoor.

Speaking earlier this month about his interest in Clark, Rangers manager Ally McCoist said: "At that level, he's proved he's one of the most talented - his goalscoring record is fantastic and we certainly need strengthened in forward areas.

"Looking at our side in the last half a dozen games, we're particularly weak in forward areas and that would be somewhere we would look to strengthen."

McCoist has already begun his recruitment drive for next season's Division Two campaign, signing Motherwell midfielder Nicky Law and Dundee Utd forward Jon Daly.

Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell has also agreed to join the Division Three champions.

All the signings will take effect from 1 September as Rangers are currently subject to a transfer embargo.
