Kris Boyd says he is leaning towards signing a new deal with Kilmarnock and plans to hold talks on his future with the club shortly.
The 29-year-old striker returned for a second spell at Rugby Park in February, scoring three goals.
Boyd revealed that he has been approached by Hearts but stressed that he was happy with life in Ayrshire.
"I've enjoyed being back and it ticks a lot of boxes for me," said the Scottish Premier League's record scorer.
Boyd played with Killie from 2000 to 2006 before joining Rangers and his SPL tally stands at 167 goals.
Capped 18 times for Scotland, he enjoyed less successful spells with Middlesbrough, Eskisehirspor in Turkey and US side Portland Timbers.
"I want to speak to Kilmarnock and that will probably happen this week or next," Boyd explained.
"I stay not far away and the family is settled at school.
"You're happy at home, you're happy on the park and I felt that was the case.
"I was back scoring goals and I'm probably swaying more towards staying at Kilmarnock.
"I'm turning 30 in the summer and I need to be playing. I don't want to be driving here, there and everywhere just for the sake of an extra few quid per week.
"I said when I came back that my big challenge was to get back in the Scotland set-up and if I go somewhere where I'm not playing regularly, it's not going to do me any favours."
However, Boyd pointed out that his future was by no means settled, with Hearts manager Gary Locke having contacted him about a possible move to Tynecastle.
"Someone could call tomorrow and it would all change again but right now I'm happy at home," he added.
"Lockey has phoned me a couple of times to see if I'd be interested in going to Hearts.
"And at this moment I'm not ruling out anything.
"Hearts are a good club. They are maybe going through problems right now.
"I want to enjoy a break with my family. I know myself I need to have something sorted by the time I come back from my holidays."
