Jackett 'embraces' Wolves challenge

New Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett has set his sights on securing the club's promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt.

The former Millwall boss, who replaced Dean Saunders at Molineux, takes charge of a side who have suffered back-to-back relegations in the last two years.

"We want to get promoted this year," the 51-year old told BBC WM.

"Is it going to be easy? No, but it's a challenge that we are relishing and looking forward to."

Jackett has become Wolves' fifth manager in a dismal 16-month period for the club, taking over a side who will be playing in the third tier for the first time since 1989.

Wolves also became the only team to have been relegated from the top flight to the third tier of English football in successive seasons twice.

Jackett added: "It's a fresh challenge for me. I'm stepping into a club which has enormous potential.

"They've had troubles in recent years, but we've got to make sure there's no hangover and we adjust to League One quickly.

"The important thing is that we realise where we are - we want to be successful in League One.

"When the season starts in the early weeks of August, hit the ground running with a young and vibrant Wolves side that can be successful in the future."

And Jackett, who began his managerial career at Watford, has admitted he will be making some changes at Molineux as he prepares for next campaign.

"There has to be some adjustments both football-wise and financially after two relegation seasons, you would expect that," he said.

"We will see what the next few months will bring in terms of players.

"My message to the players is that they are at a fantastic club and they have the opportunity to be successful here."
