Groups F-J: Egypt and Algeria advance
- Published
Seven-time African champions Egypt progress to the play-offs after winning 1-0 in Mozambique on Sunday.
BBC Sport analyses who needs to do what to reach the third and final round of qualifying from Groups F-J.
GROUP F
There was no action in this group at the weekend because of the commitments of reigning African champions Nigeria in the ongoing Confederations Cup.
Nigeria will qualify for the play-offs in September if they avoid defeat at home to Malawi, who need a victory against the Super Eagles to make it through themselves.
Neither Namibia nor Kenya can advance from the group.
GROUP G
Egypt are through to the final round of 2014 World Cup qualifiers after a 1-0 win over Mozambique in Maputo, a victory that leaves them five points clear of Guinea.
Mohamed Salah, who turned 21 on Saturday, scored the only goal shortly before half-time to put Egypt into the play-offs.
The Egyptians are likely to approach the third round with caution, after being stunned by Algeria in a play-off to determine who qualified for the 2010 World Cup.
Guinea ensured they will finish second in the table after beating Zimbabwe 1-0 in Conakry on Sunday.
GROUP H
2010 World Cup qualifiers Algeria booked their place in the play-offs on Sunday after winning in Rwanda - but they needed Mali to stumble at home to Benin as well.
Saphir Taider scored the vital goal in Kigali as the Desert Foxes won 1-0 in Kigali to perform the first part of the job.
Their progress was sealed when Mali, who needed to beat the Beninois in Bamako, could only draw 2-2.
In a lively game, Stephane Sessegnon opened the scoring for the visitors, opened the scoring for the visitors after eight minutes, before Mahamadou Samassa replied from the penalty spot shortly after.
The momentum seemed to be shifting Mali's way but Razak Omotoyossi restored the Squirrels' lead after 32 minutes and although Cheick Diabate levelled matters once more after 69 minutes, the Eagles could not find the goal they needed to stay in contention.
GROUP I
Six-time World Cup qualifiers Cameroon are in real danger of being eliminated after drawing 0-0 with the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa on Sunday.
Cameroon are second in the group - two points behind Libya who defeated Togo 2-0 on Friday.
While the Kinshasa draw means the Congolese can no longer qualify, Cameroon know they will progress as long as they beat Libya at home in their final qualifier.
However, the Indomitable Lions may need to do less after world governing body Fifa opened proceedings against Togo for fielding an ineligible player in their 2-0 win over Cameroon on 9 June.
Should they be found guilty, Togo would forfeit the points and Cameroon would be awarded a technical win which would take the four-time African champions top of Group I.
GROUP J
Senegal set up a last-day showdown with Uganda by winning 2-0 in Liberia on Sunday to move top of Group J.
The Teranga Lions's nine points are just one better than the Cranes - with the duo meeting in their final qualifier in September.
The match is theoretically a home game for Senegal but will actually be staged in the Guinean capital Conakry because of the 2002 World Cup quarter-finalists' home stadium ban.
Uganda had looked set for World Cup elimination when a goal down and a man down with seven minutes left against Angola on Saturday, only for two late strikes to engineer a stunning 2-1 win in Kampala.
