Luton Town boss John Still has released long-term coaching pair Alan Neilson and Dmitri Kharine.

Assistant manager Neilson, a former Luton player, has taken caretaker charge of the side on three occasions.

Former Chelsea keeper Kharine had been a goalkeeping coach for the best part of 10 years at Kenilworth Road.

Meanwhile, the Hatters have terminated the contracts of Simon Ainge and Danny Spiller by mutual consent - both players had a year left on their deals.

Defender Ainge, 25, joined from Guiseley last season after an initial loan spell and made 22 Hatters appearances, scoring once.

Midfielder Spiller, 31, failed to play for Luton because of an ongoing Achilles injury, which the club says is "showing little sign of improvement".

Still said of Neilson and Kharine's exits: "In my time here so far they have shown terrific support and have proven to be honest and trustworthy individuals who I really consider to be friends of mine.

"However, when I took the job, I was promised that I could bring in my own staff if I felt it was needed. Now the time has come where I am now able to bring these people to Luton Town."
