Wayne Rooney's brother John joins League Two side Bury

Bury have signed John Rooney, the younger brother of Manchester United striker Wayne, and Chris Sedgwick on 12-month contracts.

Both players had been on trial after leaving , external and Hyde FC respectively at the end of last season.

Forward Rooney, 22, spent two years playing in the United States for New York Red Bulls and Orlando City, having started his career at Macclesfield.

Midfielder Sedgwick, 33, has made 608 appearances for five different clubs.

He has also played for Rotherham, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe United.

The pair take manager Kevin Blackwell's tally of signings to eight since the club were taken over by new chairman Stewart Day.
