Cody McDonald: Gillingham sign striker after Coventry exit

Gillingham have completed the signing of Cody McDonald after the striker's contract at Coventry City was terminated by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old, who scored eight goals in 47 appearances during two years with the Sky Blues, has agreed a two-year deal with the Gills.

McDonald had a two-month loan spell at Priestfield last season, scoring four goals in seven appearances.

He also spent the 2010-11 season with the Kent outfit,, external on loan from Norwich.

Gillingham manager Martin Allen told the club website:, external "Cody is a match-winner, he scores goals and on and off the field he conducts himself in the right way.

"He works hard and Mr Scally [Gillingham chairman Paul Scally] has worked for the last couple of months to get this deal done."
