Women's Euros 2013: Finland & Denmark draw helps England

England know a victory against France on Thursday will take them into the Women's Euros 2013 quarter-finals after Finland drew with Denmark on Tuesday.

The Danes dominated in Gothenburg but only had a Mia Brogaard strike to show for it before Annica Sjolund made it 1-1 with just three minutes remaining.

Both teams finished with two points but Denmark had a superior goal difference and could still qualify from third.

Hosts Sweden beat Italy 3-1, with both teams through to the last eight.

The Swedes secured their passage as Group A winners with an impressive second-half showing in Halmstad.

A Raffaella Manieri own goal was followed by strikes from Lotta Schelin and Josefine Oqvist, with Italy's Melania Gabbiadini scoring a consolation.

The top two teams in each of the three groups qualify for the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed teams.

Denmark finished with two points and so an England win would take them to four and a certain place in the last eight.

The Netherlands and Iceland, who both have one point, meet in the final round of Group B fixtures on Wednesday while Germany and Norway, who have four points apiece, meet to determine who will win the group.

On Thursday, third-placed England meet Group C leaders France in Linkoping, while Russia face Spain in Norrkoping.
