Mackie lured by Forest ambition

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Queen's Park Rangers forward Jamie Mackie for a fee of about £1m, reports BBC East Midlands Today.

Mackie, 27, has agreed a three-year contract after having a transfer request accepted by QPR on Thursday., external

The Scotland striker who joined QPR from Plymouth in 2010 and scored 18 goals in 94 games, seemed unlikely to be a regular starter this season.

"It's a massive opportunity, a massive club and I'm so excited," he said.

"There are quality players already here and a top manager, who is extremely ambitious. I am massively ambitious too and I cannot wait."

Forest also signed Algeria winger Djamel Abdoun on Thursday.

QPR said they "reluctantly accepted" the transfer request from Mackie, who started 17 Premier League matches last season.

Mackie has been capped nine times by Scotland, came through the Wimbledon youth system and has also had a spell at Exeter.
