Goals in each half, from Ben Reeves and Jason Banton, gave MK Dons victory at Northampton in the Capital One Cup.

The Dons went in front when Reeves drilled in from 18 yards and could have been two up at the break but for Matt Duke's fine save from Shaun Williams.

After half-time Duke saved from Dele Alli, but Banton was on hand to poke in the rebound to double the Dons' lead.

Roy O'Donovan pulled one back for Town and Matt Heath and David Moyo had chances to level, but the Dons held on.

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I was very pleased. The players who came on made a difference.

"It's a young team out there, and they conducted themselves very well

"(Ben Reeves) is a talent. The kid's a young player, 21 years of age, he's only going to get better during our time. He's still got a lot more to prove.

"(Dele Alli) - I don't think he's for sale, personally. I think it's going to take millions. But I don't want to sell him. There'll be a day that we have to. The kid's destined to be a great player."
