Celtic: Kelvin Wilson close to Nottingham Forest return

Kelvin Wilson is close to rejoining Nottingham Forest, with manager Neil Lennon saying the defender has probably played his last game for Celtic.

Wilson helped Celtic progress to the Champions League play-off round after a 0-0 draw away to Elfsborg.

Forest made a bid for the 27-year-old, who left them in 2011, last month.

"It's probably Kelvin's last game for us but he can go with his head held high, he was unbelievable tonight," Lennon told BBC Scotland.

"I'm not sure if a deal has been agreed yet but I don't think it's far away. We asked him to play tonight and he didn't want to let the team down and he certainly didn't."

Wilson left the City Ground on a free transfer in the summer of 2011 after signing a pre-contract agreement with Celtic that January.

He has been a regular with the Scottish champions, featuring in 50 games last season as Celtic won the league and Scottish Cup double and reached the last 16 in the Champions League.

Prior to Celtic's trip to Sweden, assistant manager Johan Mjallby had suggested Wilson was suffering from homesickness.

Lennon signed Virgil van Dijk and Steven Mouyokolo this summer and also has Efe Ambrose, Mikael Lustig and also Charlie Mulgrew as first-team options at centre-half.
