Gareth Bale shows Wales loyalty, says Tony Pulis

Gareth Bale has shown his "commitment" to Wales by joining the international squad despite injury and speculation over his club future, says Tony Pulis.

Real Madrid have targeted Tottenham Hotspur's star attacker.

A foot injury has ruled Bale out of Wales' Wednesday friendly against the Republic of Ireland, but he is with Chris Coleman's squad.

"I think him just turning up shows his loyalty towards the country and to Chris," said ex-Stoke City boss Pulis.

"Chris will be absolutely delighted."

Pulis added: "Gareth is predominantly now as good as any player in British football.

"And for him to turn up for the game - just to turn up - shows his loyalty and commitment."

Bale has not played for his club Tottenham since Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed his club wanted to sign the Cardiff-born winger.

It has also been reported that Bale has asked permission to speak to the Spanish side about a possible world-record transfer.

Bale has been ruled out of Wales' friendly against the Republic of Ireland at Cardiff City Stadium along with midfielder Aaron Ramsey (ankle) and defender James Collins (knee).

Brighton's Andrew Crofts and Swansea City defender Jazz Richards have been named as replacements.
