Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic is to return to training from injury ahead of schedule, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Serb was expected to miss four to six weeks, external after the extent of damage to an ankle was revealed in early August.

Nastasic was carried off injured in City's pre-season match against Sunderland in Hong Kong on 27 July.

"He is not ready for the next match but next week he will work normally with the whole squad," said Pellegrini.

City striker Sergio Aguero is in contention for Monday's Premier League encounter with Newcastle United, having recently returned to training after missing all of City's seven pre-season games with a knee injury.

"He is fine, no problem," Pellegrini said of the 25-year-old Argentine. "He has worked with us normally for the last 10 days so he is not a problem."

Winger Scott Sinclair will be allowed to go out on loan just under a year after joining the club from Swansea.

The 24-year-old made two Premier League starts for the Blues last season but faces increased competition following the signing of Spain international winger Jesus Navas from Sevilla.

"He wants to play more and he has important players that play in the same position," added Pellegrini.

"We will see what happens with him today and tomorrow. If he wants to go on loan to play more, we will try to give him that."
