The new Jersey Premiership season kicked off on Saturday with St Brelade sealing victory over Grouville.

Goals from Bradley Rimeur, Kyle Hampshire and Adam Lester helped St Brelade to a 3-0 win away from home.

Both sides struggled to challenge for honours last season and finished in mid-table.

Grouville boss Bob Kearsey expects the title race to again be between three teams - Jersey Wanderers, St Paul's and Jersey Scottish.

"Realistically we'll look to make sure we beat the teams around us," Kearsey told BBC Radio Jersey.

"We've lost a few key members of the squad and we're hoping to get through August and get a few new faces.

"We're a bit thin on the ground and we're just taking it game by game. It's a cliché but it's true."

Defending champions Scottish are not in league action until 10 September.
