Matt Phillips: QPR sign Blackpool winger for undisclosed fee

Championship side QPR have completed the signing of Blackpool winger Matt Phillips for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Scotland international, who spent three seasons at the Tangerines, has signed a four-year contract with the Loftus Road outfit.

"The direction in which the club is heading, with the signings that have already been made this summer, it seems like the perfect time to come here."

He added: "We all know what [manager] Harry Redknapp is about and personally I can't wait to play for him.

"I've had a taste of the Premier League and nothing would please me more than to help get QPR back into the top flight.

"I'm relishing the opportunity to play for the club."

Phillips joined Blackpool from Wycombe in August 2010 for an initial fee of £325,000, external and went on to score 17 times in 102 appearances during his spell at Bloomfield Road.

He made his debut for Scotland in May last year and has won two international caps.

Redknapp is "delighted" with the capture of Phillips, his sixth signing this summer.

"Matt's got a big, big future ahead of him in the game," Redknapp said.

"I like having wingers in my teams and he's very direct. He can take people on and make things happen.

"He's quick, he gets at people, he can make goals and he can score goals."
