Ben Foster: West Brom goalkeeper ruled out for up to 12 weeks

West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster will be sidelined for up to 12 weeks after suffering a stress fracture in a bone in his right foot.

The England international, 30, limped off during Baggies' 0-0 draw at Everton on Saturday.

Albion boss Steve Clarke told the club website: "There's no hiding the fact this is disappointing news as Ben is a key player for us."

Boaz Myhill will replace Foster after recovering from a wrist injury.

"Thanks for well wishes, everything happens for a reason, though. So I'll use this time out wisely," Foster tweeted.

Clarke explained that Foster was forced off on Saturday after he "felt something pop in his foot and said he was in a lot of pain".

England manager Roy Hodgson was watching at Goodison Park, as Foster, who has played for the national side six times and was a substitute for the friendly win against Scotland, made a series of fine saves.

The injury means Foster will miss the World Cup qualifying double-header next month.

Moldova come to Wembley on 6 September before England travel to face Ukraine four days later.
