AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says he is "excited" about completing the signing of Malmo striker Tokelo Rantie.

The Cherries are thought to have broken their club transfer record to sign the 22-year-old South Africa international.

And Howe believes he will be an excellent addition to the squad.

"It's been a long, drawn out transfer - a difficult one to complete because he was very highly regarded by the selling club. I'm delighted to get him," Howe told BBC Radio Solent.

"I think he'll add a lot to the squad. He has pace to burn and is technically very good, so we're very excited."

The Cherries are awaiting international clearance and a work permit for the forward but he is expected to link up with the rest of the Bournemouth squad later this week.

Asked when he thought Rantie would be given clearance to play, Howe added: "We are in the lap of the gods here. It is difficult to know."
