Irish Premiership: Cliftonville 4-1 Glentoran

Cliftonville retain their one-point lead at the top of the Premiership thanks to a convincing win at Solitude.

Liam Boyce poked home the opener for the impressive Reds on three minutes and Martin Donnelly fired in a low left-foot shot just before half-time.

Mark Miskimmin shot into the roof of the net after 66 to give the Glens hope but Boyce's penalty on 73 made it 3-1.

Joe Gormley added the fourth, with defender Jimmy Callacher helping the ball into the net, in the 78th minute.

Chris Curran was the provider for the opening goal, with Boyce finding the net with a first-time shot from six yards for his third of the season.

Gormley's scissors-kick then went inches over the bar and the striker had another effort ruled out for offside.

Boyce drifted past both visiting central defenders and timed his pass perfectly for Donnelly to dispatch a superb strike past Elliott Morris in added time at the end of the first period.

Early in the second half, Morris denied Gormley and Jay Magee saw his header cannon off the bar with goalkeeper Conor Devlin beaten.

Devlin then saved Miskimmin's initial effort but the former Donegal Celtic forward followed up to fire into the roof of the net.

Boyce beat Morris from the penalty spot after Stephen Garrett was fouled by Callacher and then Gormley saw Morris off his line and scored his 11th goal of the season.

Cliftonville remain a point ahead of Portadown and Glenavon at the top of the table, while Glentoran drop down to fifth place.
