Irish Premiership: Coleraine 1-2 Ballinamallard Utd
- Published
Two late goals from substitute Andy Crawford saw Ballinamallard United bounce back from their 11-0 drubbing by Portadown last week to beat Coleraine.
Wayne Drummond saved Jason McCartney's 12th-minute penalty and Coleraine then bossed possession but were unable to convert their superiority into goals.
Crawford latched onto a long ball, rounded Drummond and slotted home on 83 and smashed home a second after 88.
Debutant Eoin Bradley bundled home a late consolation goal in added time.
McCartney squandered his early chance to score from the spot after Shane Jennings had fouled Mark Stafford, Drummond diving low to his right to save.
Cathal Beacom had a chance cleared off the line by Gareth Tommons, while Alvin Rouse tipped over a Ruairi Harkin free-kick before the interval.
After half-time Stephen Lowry miscued in front of goal, Gary Browne saw a shot deflected wide and Stephen Carson struck the woodwork.
Crawford broke the deadlock for the visitors against the run of play and then blasted into the top right hand corner after being put through by McCartney.
Derry GAA star scored for the Bannsiders after coming on as a substitute.
The result sees Ballinamallard move up to sixth in the Premiership, with Coleraine dropping to 10th as they still seek their first league home win of the season.
"The players were well up for this game - we dug in and took our chances at the end," said Mallards manager Whitey Anderson after the game.
"This is a great victory for us and I'm delighted for the players. It's a good way to bounce back."
