Gillingham striker Cody McDonald says the players must stay united as they await their first win of the season.
The Priestfield Stadium outfit are second from bottom in League One after three draws and four defeats.
"It has got to change at some stage. We need to keep going and stick together," the 27-year-old told BBC Radio Kent.
"There is a great bunch of lads in the dressing room and we don't deserve to be down at the bottom with the way we are playing at the minute."
The Gills, who were promoted as League Two champions last season, are yet to win in any competition in the new campaign.
Manager Martin Allen says he has been encouraged by their recent performances, while chairman Paul Scally has called on fans to continue backing the team., external
"When you are down there at the bottom scrapping some things don't go your way," McDonald added.
"There is great quality and the lads have shown it over the last couple of weeks but we are just not quite getting over the winning line.
"It will come. We can't keep playing well, working hard for each other and it not happen.
"We have got to keep performing like that [in the 2-1 defeat by Coventry] and the results will definitely come. I know we keep saying that but they have got to at some stage.
"It is important we keep positive. With a couple of back-to-back wins this league is so, so tight we might be in mid-table."
