An impressive long-range Luke James goal earned 10-man Hartlepool a win over Plymouth at Victoria Park.

Jack Compton was sent off midway into the first half for a dangerous challenge on Argyle's Jamie Reckord.

Home keeper Scott Flinders kept Plymouth at bay, with saves to deny Reuben Reid and Rommy Boco.

The home side claimed all three points after the break when James fired a low angled shot past Luke McCormick from the edge of the area.
