Sheffield Wednesday sign Arsenal keeper Damian Martinez

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Arsenal goalkeeper Damian Martinez on a one-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old Argentine has made two first team appearances for the Gunners with the second in their 7-5 League Cup win over Reading last October.

Owls boss Dave Jones told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He'll give Chris Kirkland competition and he needs that.

"He played really well in a friendly on Friday and made some great saves. Arsenal think very highly of him."

Wednesday, who face Bolton on Saturday, are the only side in the Championship yet to win a match this season.
