Glenavon 2-3 Ballinamallard

Ballinamallard twice came from behind to secure a surprise win over second-placed Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

Kyle Neill scored direct from a corner in the fourth minute but Ryan Campbell forced the equaliser over the line after a goalmouth scramble on 58.

William Murphy headed in from a Neill corner after 70, then Cathal Beacom found the net with a free-kick on 75.

Young debutant Josh McIlwaine managed to poke home the winner after another goalmouth scramble in the 86th minute.

The winning goal proved controversial as there was some debate about whether the ball had crossed the line, but referee Arnold Hunter awarded it.

After Neill's opener, Gary Hamilton saw his lob cannon off the bar and Andy McGrory's fierce shot came off the post.

The equaliser came from a Beacom corner which John Connolly only half-cleared and when the ball was driven into the box again, Campbell slotted home.

Murphy restored the Lurgan Blues' one-goal advantage but Beacom's free-kick from the edge of the box took a slight deflection before going into the net.

Teenage substitute McIlwaine came off the bench to push the ball over the line with four minutes left and ensure three points for Whitey Anderson's Fermanagh outfit.

The result sees the Mallards move up to seventh position with 16 points from 12 matches ahead of Saturday's games.

Glenavon meanwhile pass up an opportunity to potentially move to the top of the table.
