Scunthorpe United 1-0 Hartlepool United

Scunthorpe edged to victory to end Hartlepool's five-match winning run.

The visitors looked the most likely to make the breakthrough, but were denied on several occasions by Iron goalkeeper Sam Slocombe.

He stopped Christian Burgess's acrobatic header, before reacting well to efforts from Matthew Dolan and Jonathan Franks.

But the hosts snatched all three points when Sam Winnall capitalised on a defensive slip to fire home.

Post-match: Scunthorpe boss Laws

Scunthorpe United boss Brian Laws speaks to BBC Radio Humberside:

"We had to find a way to win the game that was for sure. I've got to say it was tough going right from the outset.

"We found a way through and sometimes we have to be a little bit more direct and I thought that's where the goal came from.

"I think they're a decent side if you allow them to play and it showed when we did allow that freedom."
