Caldicot Town have been thrown out of the Welsh Cup after fielding an ineligible player in their 3-0 Round Two win over Penybont FC.

The Round Two tie was played last Saturday following the postponement a week earlier due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Football Association of Wales Domestic Committee found Caldicot Town guilty of breaking FAW Welsh Cup Rule 19h.

Airbus UK Broughton will now face Penybont FC in Round Three after Caldicot were disqualified from the competition.

Rule 19h states: "In all rounds of the Competition a player must have been a registered member of his Club by 5:00pm on the last working day before the Conference Date of the Competition.

"In the case of postponed, drawn or replayed matches only those players shall be allowed to play who were eligible at the Conference Date," the FAW said in a statement.

"Although sympathetic to the situation, the FAW decided that they had to disqualify Caldicot Town from this season's FAW Welsh Cup for breaching Rule 19h. As a consequence, Penybont FC has been reinstated."

Penybont FC, of Welsh League Division 1 will now face Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton in Round Three on Saturday 7 December.

The match has been reversed to the Airfield in Broughton as Penybont are currently constructing a new 3G pitch at their home in Bryntirion.
