Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 Wycombe Wanderers

  • Published

Dagenham & Redbridge moved to within two points of the League Two play-off places with a comfortable victory over 10-man Wycombe.

Afolabi Obafemi opened the scoring for the Daggers with a neat turn and finish from inside the box.

The hosts doubled their lead through a Rhys Murphy penalty after he had been hauled down by Anthony Stewart, who was subsequently sent off.

Charles Dunne hit a post late on for Wycombe but the Daggers held on.

The win means Dagenham have still only lost once at home this season and keeps them firmly in the play-off picture, while defeat for Wycombe means they are without a league win in six.

On Antony Stewart's red card and the subsequent penalty: "Unbelievable. It's a terrible decision, he'd got that wrong.

"All my players are saying he got it wrong, and Stewart is absolutely mortified he's been sent off. It totally changed the game today.

"Anyone who's been at the game today, any Wycombe fans, ask them how we played, because we were the best side today. And with 11 versus 11 it would have been a very interesting game.

"We're just having some bad luck at the moment. Bad decisions gone against us today, and also the little one that hits the post at the end; it will come for us. There's two thirds of the season left and we deserve a bit of luck in those two thirds. I've got nothing but pride for Wycombe today."
