Reds hold talks with Ports over transfer-listed Braniff

Kevin Braniff is being linked with a possible move to Cliftonville after the Irish Premiership champions began discussions with Portadown over the Northern Ireland international.

Portadown captain Braniff was fined and placed on the transfer list last week following an apparent disagreement with manager Ronnie McFall.

McFall confirmed to BBC Sport on Saturday that two clubs had enquired about Braniff's services.

The other is believed to be Glentoran.

Derry City are also thought to be monitoring the situation for a player who will not be available to play for another team until January.

Braniff, 30, has been with Portadown since December 2006, having started his career with Millwall, and he is regarded as one of the Irish League's most skilful players.

In 2010, he won a senior Northern Ireland cap under Nigel Worthington, playing in a friendly against Turkey in the United States.
