Dan Holman's double ensured Braintree got their promotion challenge back on track with victory against 10-man Chester at Bumpers Lane.
The hosts saw Paul Linwood dismissed early on for a bad tackle on Holman who then converted the resulting free-kick.
After the break, Holman doubled the visitors' lead with a fantastic long-range strike from outside the box.
Jamie Reed headed off target in the closing stages, the closest struggling Chester came to a consolation.
