Rangers 3-0 Ayr United

Scottish League One leaders Rangers claimed their 20th successive competitive win by beating Ayr United at Ibrox.

Jon Daly headed in Ian Black's free-kick to give the hosts the lead and Fraser Aird's low shot doubled their advantage.

Former Rangers forward Kevin Kyle came close to pulling one back for Ayr, his header slipping wide.

Bilel Mohsni's close-range finish extended the home side's lead late on.

Rangers' maintenance of their 100% league record after 15 matches stretches their advantage over nearest challengers Dunfermline to 16 points.

Daly fired over minutes before converting Black's cross with a glancing header to put his side ahead.

Lee McCulloch saw his own header flash wide of the upright as Rangers searched for a second goal.

That came midway through the first period when Aird embarked on a surging run through the Ayr defence before dispatching an impressive shot into the net.

Daly had two more efforts before half-time and Lewis Macleod and McCulloch threatened as Rangers remained in control in the second period.

But the visitors were more of attacking force after the break and Kyle's effort came during a series of set pieces.

Mohsni forced home with five minutes to go and McCulloch was denied by goalkeeper David Hutton late on.
