Saturday's FA Cup second round replay between Crawley Town and Bristol Rovers has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

The pitch at Broadfield Stadium failed an inspection on Friday afternoon after heavy overnight rain.

The two sides were set to contest the tie for the second time, with the first attempt on 18 December abandoned because of a waterlogged pitch.

The match will now take place on Wednesday, 8 January at 19:45 GMT.

The winners face a trip to Championship club Birmingham City in the third round. That tie will either take place on Tuesday, 14 January or Wednesday, 15 January.

Crawley and Bristol Rovers sides drew 0-0 in the initial tie on 7 December.

"Taking into account the forecast for more rain on Saturday we have made an early decision to call the game off," Reds chief executive Michael Dunford told the club website., external

"The forecast for the early part of next week is not encouraging which is why we have delayed re-staging the game until Wednesday to give us the best chance of playing it then."
