Norwich captain Sebastien Bassong has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract to keep him at Carrow Road until 2016.

The defender, 27, joined the club from Tottenham last summer and was named player of the season in his first year.

"I'm really pleased, it is something I have been looking forward to doing," said the Cameroon international.

"Being team captain I think it is really important to commit myself even more to the club."

Bassong has made 47 appearances for Norwich, scoring three times, since his move in 2012.

Canaries boss Chris Hughton added: "We're delighted that we've had the opportunity to extend Seb's contract - somebody who has been an integral part of everything we've done so far and of course our player of the season last year."
