Morecambe: Jack Redshaw return a boost for boss Jim Bentley

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley says the return of Jack Redshaw has been a huge boost to the club in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old missed the first three months of the season after and his recovery has offset the loss of fellow forward Kevin Ellison to injury.

"In one of the first games Jack comes back, Kevin fractures his eye socket [at Mansfield] and we lose him," Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"It will be good when we get them both back together again."

Veteran Ellison, who has scored six goals this term, is hoping to return early in the new year.

Redshaw scored 16 times in 2012-13 and has already found the net twice for the Shrimps this season, including a late winner against Bristol Rovers last Saturday.

"He's got stronger and you can see the physique on him now." said the Morecambe boss. "He's a fantastic professional and we know he'll get goals.

"I'm just pleased with the work-rate he's put in. As a manager throwing him back in after such a long injury lay-off, you're thinking you'll get an hour out of him, but he's lasted 90 minutes in the last two games."

Bentley continued: "Over the last year, Kev and Jack have been our biggest threats.

"[Padraig] Amond has been chipping in, Jack [Sampson] has been leading the line and Marcus Marshall has been out injured. We've got some good options up there."
