Partick Thistle: Alan Archibald rues wasted chances

Alan Archibald was left ruing Partick Thistle's profligacy in front of goal following a 0-0 draw with Inverness CT at Firhill.

The tenth-place hosts could not find a way past an inspired Caley Thistle goalkeeper Dean Brill and wasted several opportunities.

It leaves the Jags still waiting on their first home win in the Premiership this season.

"We had enough chances to win it," Archibald told BBC Radio Scotland.

"We were guilty of missing two, similar to last week, which we need to take."

Inverness moved up to third, while Thistle remain in 10th, leaving Archilbald's men without a league win in seven games.

Kris Doolan, Kallum Higginbotham and Steven Lawless all passed up good chances for the hosts, while Brill was determined to ensure his side would at least walk away with a point.

Thistle boss Archibald is concerned about his side spurning opportunities in front of goal.

"The positives are that we are still playing good football and creating those chances, but it's happening too often now," he said.

"I watched it [Doolan's chance] back and it's maybe a bit too high, but he's in too early.

"Stevie had one with a header close range, which you expect him to do better with.

"As I say, we are just encouraging them to get into the right areas. They are still making these runs and they are getting in on the end of things, but it's just not falling for us.

"It's a vital point against a very good Inverness side who are flying at the top end of the league. Another positive is that we got a clean-sheet for the first time since the beginning of the season, so we are delighted with that."

When asked about the wait for a home win playing on the players' minds, Archibald said: "It probably does.

"It gets mentioned everyday and it will until we get that victory, but I don't think you could tell the way they performed today that it is affecting them."
