St Johnstone midfielder Paddy Cregg will serve a two-match ban now that the Scottish Football Association's disciplinary tribunal has rejected his claim that he was wrongly sent off.

The Irishman was shown a straight red card by referee Alan Muir for a challenge on Hibernian's Paul Cairney just 34 seconds after replacing the injured Murray Davidson on 21 December.

Cregg played for Saints on Saturday.

But he will now miss their New Year matches at Motherwell and Ross County.
