Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald bawls instructions at Celtic Park

Partick Thistle manager left Celtic Park frustrated his side did not earn at least a point as they lost 1-0.

Joe Ledley's first-half strike was all that separated the two sides, with the Jags passing up a number of first-half opportunities.

Steven Lawless also went close late on, but his curling shot was cleared off the line by Adam Matthews.

"I've not seen many teams create as many chances as we have in the first half," Archibald told BBC Scotland.

Stuart Bannigan, Christie Elliot and James Craigen all tested the Celtic goal in a promising first-half, but six minutes before the interval, Welsh international Ledley drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.

"I thought it was a great response after the disappointing performance and result against Motherwell," said Archibald. "I'm glad we got a good response from the lads.

"I was delighted with their performance, their work rate, their effort and even the play and the chances we created.

"We were well organised, I thought they kept the shape really well. We had a number of chances in the first half and I think when you come to places like Parkhead you've got to take them.

"The next four games were always going to be important ones. Coming to Celtic Park, getting anything was a bonus. We're in a dog fight, we know that and the next month is vital."

Lyle Taylor made his debut for the Firhill side and his new manager is hopeful there will be more to come from the former Falkirk striker, who has arrived on loan from Sheffield United.

"I thought he done well," he said. "I knew he wouldn't last very long, he's not had enough football.

"I thought it was important to get him out there and used to the players and it also gave us a chance to rest Kris Doolan."
