Nottingham Forest captain Andy Reid has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension, external with the Championship promotion challengers.

Reid, 31, scored in the 5-0 FA Cup third-round thrashing of West Ham.

"I'm delighted, he's influential and he's club captain," Forest boss Billy Davies said. "I've told him to lead this team to the Premier League."

Reid has excelled in his second spell at the City Ground, scoring 14 goals in 112 games since rejoining in 2011.

The midfielder began his career with Forest before making the switch to Tottenham alongside Michael Dawson in 2005. , externalNomadic spells with Charlton, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Blackpool followed.

Under Davies this term, the Republic of Ireland international has scored seven Championship goals to help the team to fifth place, inside the play-off positions.
