John McCombe: Mansfield Town defender leaves League Two club
- Published
Mansfield Town defender John McCombe has left the club by mutual consent.
The 28-year-old made only seven starts for the Stags after joining them on a free transfer last summer following his release by Port Vale.
McCombe began his career with Huddersfield Town before moving on to Hereford United, who he helped win promotion to League One in 2008.
He then joined Port Vale and repeated the feat last term, playing 37 times as they were promoted from League Two.
McCombe is the second player released by Mansfield this week, following the departure of striker Calvin Andrew.
